Fady Alkot's inspiring story: From participant to leader at AJOI

Fady Alkot is the perfect example of a success story built on perseverance, passion and community involvement. His journey, which began in 2015 with his participation in AJOI's sports activities, has not only helped him develop his soccer skills, but has also shaped his professional and personal future.

A developing talent

In 2015, while looking to get more involved in his community, Fady discovered AJOI's open gym activities. These moments of sharing and sport not only helped him hone his soccer game, but also enabled him to meet other passionate young people. With determination, Fady perfected his skills, which earned him great rewards.

In 2017 and 2018, his soccer team won the West Island's Jeux de la rue soccer tournament organized by AJOI, marking the start of his rise in the local sports world. His performances on the field and his team spirit quickly distinguished him as a key player in the community.

From participant to mentor

The turning point in Fady's career came in January 2020, when he was hired by AJOI as an animator for young people aged 12 to 25. From then on, he didn't just take part in activities, he was in charge of them. An animator at open gyms and Jeux de la rue tournaments, Fady quickly became a role model for the young participants.

During this period, he juggled his part-time job with his college studies, showing exemplary dedication. During the summer, he worked full-time, devoting his energy to helping young people in his community, while pursuing his own academic career.

An exemplary university career

In 2020, Fady began university studies in ergotherapy, a field in which he saw the opportunity to combine his love of helping others with his interest in health. Despite this new occupation, his passion for sport and his relationship with AJOI never faded. In September 2022, he was nominated Sports Activities Team Leader, proving that he was not only a leader on the field, but also within the organization.

After completing his bachelor's degree in ergotherapy in 2023, Fady chose to broaden his horizons by studying pharmacy at the Université de Montréal, pursuing his ambition to make a difference in the lives of others through health.

A promising future

Fady's commitment to sport continues to grow. In 2024, he was nominated Sports Activities Coordinator at AJOI, a role where he oversees and organizes events that have a direct impact on the West Island youth. Through his leadership and passion, Fady continues to inspire generations of young people.

Fady's sporting adventure doesn't stop there. In October 2024, he will proudly represent Quebec with his soccer team at the National Soccer Championships in Vancouver, British Columbia. It will be another opportunity for him to showcase his talent and fly the flag for his community.

An example of inspiration

Fady Alkot embodies success through community involvement, education and perseverance. From beneficiary of AJOI services in 2015 to Sports Activities Coordinator in 2024, his journey is a model for all young people who aspire to reconcile their passions, their studies and their desire to give back to their community. His story reminds us that, with hard work and determination, anything is possible.
